The school year at a glance
Examinations, festivals, sports and rituals — the calendar the Gurukul runs to, from the DPCCT Annual Academic Planner.
How a year here is spent
A Gurukul year is not only examinations. It is planting saplings in Van Mahotsav, inter-house rituals competitions, an Annual Sports Week where the houses carry indigenous names, and Indigenous Faith Day observed properly.
Creative skills
Bamboo weaving, pottery, handloom and wood carving — taught as living crafts, not as a hobby class.
Nature excursions
Jungle treks and outdoor teaching, including during National Wildlife Week.
Yoga and meditation
An hour every morning, before the school day begins.
Community living
Shram-daan, shared chores and work in the kitchen garden.
Traditional sports
Indigenous games alongside athletics, building towards Sports Week.
Drama and expression
Storytelling, folk tales and stage work for school events.
Days we keep
Annual Sports Week
Five days in January — indigenous sports, chanting, group dance and song, ending in a cultural ceremony.
Indigenous Faith Day
Observed on 1 December with full rituals.
Van Mahotsav
Every student plants a sapling in the first week of July.
Inter-house Rituals
Senior and sub-junior competitions in November and December.
